Phones are on and the road is open. Will the Pack staff show up at Lake Ridge?

Jazman Bailey is a 5’9″ point guard from Lake Ridge High School in Texas and a top-50 kid in the class (ESPN No. 42). NC State offered because she’s a true floor general with a good feel for the game and some international experience already under her belt. She played for USA Basketball at the U16 AmeriCup and showed she can run a team even in limited minutes.

She’s quick, competitive, and she sees the floor. Early in her high school career she was already dropping 15-plus a night and making plays for teammates. She’s had big scoring outbursts too — 32-point games aren’t foreign to her. That combination of scoring punch and passing vision is what you want in a point guard.

In Raleigh she’d give the Wolfpack another option at the point. She can push it in transition or settle into a half-court set and find the right teammate. Defensively she’s active and she competes. She wouldn’t walk in and take over the offense immediately, but she has the makeup of a kid who can earn minutes early and grow into a starter.

Texas kids don’t always end up in the ACC, so the offer shows NC State saw something they liked in her poise and competitiveness. She’d be a nice change-of-pace guard who can also score when needed.

Known competition: The biggest names she’s talked about are Notre Dame and Duke. Houston and UNC are also in the mix. That’s a real ACC battle if the Pack stays on her.
