PackWBB.com will be breaking down the 2026-27 roster over the next few days. This is Part 1 and we start with the team leaders.
The calendar flips to late June. Bags are being unpacked in Reynolds Coliseum. New transfers are meeting teammates for the first time. Freshmen are wide-eyed as they step onto the court for the first official summer workouts of 2026. The 2026-27 NC State women’s basketball roster is officially checking in for Summer Session 2.
Two familiar faces are already waiting for them. You can bet they are already in the gym. You can bet they are already working. You can bet they are already setting the tone.
Zoe Brooks and Khamil Pierre. This is what NC State leadership will look like in 2026-27.
After a 21-11 season that ended with another NCAA Tournament appearance, NC State said goodbye to several key contributors. The transfer portal took others. But the program retained its two best players, and they are not just returning. They are stepping into the biggest leadership roles of their careers.
This is their team to lead.
Zoe Brooks: The Veteran Playmaker Taking Command
Zoe Brooks has been a steady force since arriving as a McDonald’s All-American. In 2025-26, the senior guard from Plainfield, New Jersey averaged 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. She earned First-Team All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season and was named to the WBCA All-America Honorable Mention list.
Brooks has already played in two ACC Championship games and helped the Wolfpack reach three straight NCAA Tournaments. As the roster checks in this summer, she is the one who knows exactly what it takes to win in the ACC and in March. Expect her to be the voice in the huddle, the one running extra drills with the new guards, and the player who makes sure everyone understands the standard.
Khamil Pierre: The Dominant Presence Anchoring Everything
On the other side of the gym, Khamil Pierre is putting in work. The 6’2″ senior forward from Phoenix (via Vanderbilt) had a monster 2025-26 season. She averaged 16.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game (leading the ACC), recorded 22 double-doubles, and shot 52.5 percent from the field.
Pierre set multiple NC State single-season records and was also named First-Team All-ACC and WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.
She is not just a rebounding machine. She is a tone-setter. Her work ethic, physicality, and competitiveness are contagious. With new frontcourt pieces arriving, you can bet she will be showing them how to dominate the paint and control games on the glass.
Zoe Brooks and Khamil Pierre are the two leaders who will define the 2026-27 season.
The Message Is Clear
As the rest of the roster filters in for Summer Session 2, transfers Desiree Wooten and Khady Leye, freshmen like Kamora Pruitt and Annsley Trivette, and the rest of the returners are walking into a program that already has its identity.
Brooks and Pierre are not waiting for someone else to set the culture. They are the culture.
They have already proven they can play at an elite level. Now they are proving they can lead at an elite level too. The new staff additions (including the return of Brittany Morris) and head coach Wes Moore will build the supporting pieces around them, but the heartbeat of this team runs through these two seniors.
This summer is not just about conditioning and skill work. It is about establishing who this team will be in 2026-27.
And right now, with the roster checking in, two leaders are already in the building, showing everyone exactly what it means to be a Wolfpack.
This is their team to lead.
The foundation is already in place. Now it is time to build on it.
