NC State has hired Ronny Fisher, the highly successful former head coach at Campbell University, as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program. A North Carolina native from Fairview (near Asheville), Fisher brings 18 seasons of collegiate head coaching experience, deep regional recruiting connections, a proven track record of player development, and a reputation for building consistent winners with elite defensive teams. He spent the past 10 seasons (2016–2026) leading Campbell, where he compiled a strong 194–115 overall record (.628 winning percentage) and averaged nearly 19 wins per season.

Under Fisher, Campbell became a perennial contender in the Big South Conference before transitioning to the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). He guided the Camels to two Big South regular-season championships (2019-20 and 2021-22), three Big South Tournament runner-up finishes (2019, 2021, 2022), and a CAA Tournament runner-up appearance in 2025. The program reached the postseason multiple times under his leadership, earning its first-ever WNIT berth in 2022 and securing its first WNIT victory in 2025 with a first-round win over Coastal Carolina. Fisher also led Campbell to two wins in the 2019 Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI) and is responsible for all three postseason victories in program history.

He eclipsed 20 wins in six of his 10 seasons and tied the program record with 23 victories in both 2018-19 and 2021-22. A three-time Big South Coach of the Year, Fisher developed 17 all-conference selections, nine all-freshman honorees, and multiple defensive standouts while emphasizing hustle, toughness, and elite team defense.

Before arriving at Campbell in 2016, Fisher spent eight seasons as head coach at Big South rival Presbyterian College (2008–16), where he posted a 97–144 record but delivered three winning seasons in his final four years and earned Big South Coach of the Year honors in 2012-13. His earlier career included stints as an assistant and associate head coach on the men’s side at Presbyterian, assistant coach at North Greenville University, and high school head coach at Conway (S.C.) High School. He is a 1990 Furman University graduate.

Fisher’s addition gives NC State a veteran voice with head coaching pedigree, strong in-state ties across North Carolina and the Southeast, and a history of elevating programs through culture, recruiting, and development. He is expected to play a key role in player development, recruiting, and game strategy for the Wolfpack staff.
