Ann Arbor — The NC State Wolfpack are monitoring star guard Zoe Brooks closely after she suffered a right foot injury during Friday’s first-round NCAA Tournament win over Tennessee.

Brooks went down midway through the third quarter on a non-contact floater and did not return. The junior point guard, who has run the offense with poise and vision all season, was in a boot on crutches Saturday and will not practice as the team takes every precaution.

Head coach Wes Moore addressed the situation during media availability:

Yeah, hard to say at this point. Obviously our medical people, we’re fortunate to have a couple of doctors with us and our athletic trainer, so they do a great job. Obviously the first priority is going to be her health and making sure she’s not at risk as far as her future goes. But some of it may come down to just how she feels tomorrow. She won’t be practicing today. Taking all precautions with a boot, crutches, trying to keep weight off it. Like I said yesterday, sending up a lot of prayers.”

Her status for Sunday’s Round of 32 showdown with No. 2 Michigan remains day-to-day. The Wolfpack already proved their depth with Zamareya Jones’ career-high 30 points in the opener, but Brooks’ presence would be a massive boost as NC State looks to pillage Ann Arbor and claim that coveted 2-seed.Prayers up for Zoe. The opportunity is still there.

Go Pack.
