The first official night is Monday, Nov. 2, against Wofford at Reynolds Coliseum. Annsley Trivette is the freshman forward built for that building: 6-3, physical enough to play inside, skilled enough to step out and shoot.

She is from Abingdon, Virginia, the No. 1 player in her state in the 2026 class, and she closed high school by dragging Abingdon to its first Class 3 state title. In the championship game she went for 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting and 14 rebounds. As a senior she averaged 23.8 points and 9.9 rebounds.

This is the fourth piece in New Blood. Pruitt was the ranked wing. Trivette is the other four-star, and the one who looks most like a Wes Moore forward.

How she got here

Trivette started at Richlands, then became the face of Abingdon. As a junior she was Virginia Class 3 Player of the Year at 20.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 1.8 steals. Through three high school seasons she had 1,722 points, 786 rebounds, 307 assists, 193 blocks, and 205 steals. ESPN ranked her in the 90s nationally. 247Sports had her as high as No. 59 and the top player in Virginia.

She also won on the AAU circuit with the West Virginia Thunder, including an Under Armour Association U-17 title. In 10 games there she averaged 10.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 60 percent shooting. She is a multi-sport athlete: soccer, volleyball, and a state title in discus with a school-record toss of 131 feet, 9 inches.

She was Moore’s first commit in the 2026 class. Official visits included Virginia, Wake Forest, and James Madison. She picked NC State anyway.

“We’re excited to have Annsley join the Pack,” Moore said. “She’s a versatile player that can go inside and be physical or step outside and shoot the 3. Having played for the West Virginia Thunder travel team, she brings a winner mentality to the court that makes everyone around her better. Annsley’s energy and competitive spirit will be popular with fans and teammates alike.”

What she does

The scouting report is already in Moore’s quote. Trivette can post, rebound, pass, and shoot. The high school assist and block numbers say she is not only a finisher. The three-point threat is what keeps her from being a backup five only.

She plays with force. That is the Reynolds piece. The Pack’s home crowd has always liked forwards who run, bang, and stay in the play after the first miss. Trivette’s tape looks like that.

The job against Wofford

The minutes sit behind Khamil Pierre and Khady Leye, with Maddie Cox still on the roster as a spacer. Trivette’s path is the next forward in. If Pierre sits, she can play the four. If Moore wants size around Pierre, she can play next to her. If the three-point shot is real, she can space a two-forward lineup.

Wofford is the first night those minutes become real. Campbell is two days later. Kentucky in Charlotte is Nov. 8. The opener is the first look at whether she is a November rotation piece or a redshirt-in-all-but-name project.

Best-case Wofford night:

  • a first-half stretch of minutes
  • a rebound and a finish, or a three
  • no early foul trouble

The question mark

Virginia Class 3 is not the ACC. The jump is size, speed, and how quickly the three-point shot travels. Foul trouble will decide her freshman minutes more than anything else. A 6-3 freshman who reaches will sit.

The other question is overlap. Leye and Pierre already take the paint. Trivette has to prove she is different enough, as a shooter or as an energy reserve, to get on the floor with them.

Who she pairs with

  • Pierre: the standard. Trivette learns the job by chasing her in practice.
  • Leye: the other new forward. They will split the leftover post minutes.
  • Cox: the shooter who keeps two-forward groups from clogging.
  • Pruitt: the other freshman. One wing, one forward, same class.

What to watch on Nov. 2

For Trivette vs. Wofford, track four things:

  1. Does she play in the first half?
  2. Rebounds
  3. Fouls
  4. Whether the three is in the game plan

If those four lean positive, Trivette is not only the other four-star. She is in the forward rotation before the Pack leaves Raleigh.

Next: Audrey Ericksen. The Cary homegrown guard, with the same Wofford night as the first official test.

Quote of the week

“I think Zoe coming back definitely played a big part. I’m a really genuine person, so I really want to get drafted with Zoe, share that experience. I think that’s super cool. Also, loyalty is really big. They were a school that picked me up when I was going through a lot of hard stuff, and they believed in me and they gave me an opportunity, and I’ll forever just be thankful for that. So where I could have left and could go make more money, or be on what people say is a bigger stage, I just wanted to stay where I was valued, and that was State.”
