This is part of a 25-day series on PackWBB.com leading up to NC State women’s first tip at Reynolds against High Point. Each day gets one talking point. Today is Day 22: Reynolds is sold out. The new mix still has to earn the noise.

The building will be full. That part is done. NC State women have made weeknights loud for years. A new rotation does not automatically keep it that way.

People are coming to see Brooks and Pierre. They are also coming because Reynolds has become a place you show up. The new names have to give that crowd a reason to stay loud after the first substitution. Wooten. Leye. Ericksen. Pruitt. Trivette. Ossai. Somebody besides the two stars has to make the place jump.

Sold out is a compliment to what this program already built. It is not a grade for this roster. High Point is the first night the new mix hears that sound. If the ball sticks and the new pieces hide, the gym gets polite. If somebody besides Brooks and Pierre makes a play, the noise belongs to this team, not last year’s memory.

The seats are filled. The rest is on the floor.

Quote of the week

“I think Zoe coming back definitely played a big part. I’m a really genuine person, so I really want to get drafted with Zoe, share that experience. I think that’s super cool. Also, loyalty is really big. They were a school that picked me up when I was going through a lot of hard stuff, and they believed in me and they gave me an opportunity, and I’ll forever just be thankful for that. So where I could have left and could go make more money, or be on what people say is a bigger stage, I just wanted to stay where I was valued, and that was State.”
