This is part of a 25-day series on PackWBB.com leading up to NC State women’s first tip at Reynolds against High Point. Each day gets one talking point. Today is Day 17: Pruitt is the freshman wing to watch.
Kamora Pruitt is 6-2. Four-star recruit. KP. She arrived from Legion Prep in Texas with a high-major resume and a game that can live on the wing or slide up a spot. The highlights are going to look good in Reynolds. That is not the October question.
The October question is defense. Can she stay in front of a wing? Can she close out without fouling? Can she know where to stand when Brooks drives and Pierre dives? Freshman scorers who cannot guard do not stay on Moore’s floor.
The Pack needs size on the wing and another body who can make a defense pay for helping on the stars. Pruitt has the frame for both. If she is ready, she jumps the line on a lot of older names. If she is not, she sits and the spacing problem stays the same.
High Point is a first look at whether the recruit is a player. Ignore the first made jumper. Watch the first closeout. That is the tape that decides if KP is the freshman wing to watch or just the freshman wing on the poster.
