Brookeslee Colvin Scouting Report
Class of 2027 | 5’8″ Point Guard

Brookeslee Colvin is a skilled, quick, high-IQ point guard whose playmaking, vision, and scoring ability align strongly with NC State’s up-tempo, transition-oriented, and defensively aggressive identity under Wes Moore. Her combination of speed, court vision, and perimeter shooting makes her a natural fit for a Wolfpack backcourt that thrives on pace, creation, and two-way impact.

Recruiting & Projection

Known Offers (as of July 2026):
Power Conference/High-Major: NC State (February 2026), UNC, UCLA, Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa State, Virginia, Penn State, Rutgers, and others including Gonzaga.
She remains one of the top uncommitted point guards in the 2027 class (ESPN ~#25–37, 247Sports #29 overall / #4 PG, Rivals/On3 ~#37 overall / top-6 PG, No. 1 in Idaho). Her recruitment is wide open after a dominant junior season, strong AAU run with the Northwest Blazers, and recent addition of multiple official visits.

Physical Profile & Athleticism

Colvin is a quick, shifty 5’8″ guard with excellent body control, change-of-pace ability, and the speed to push in transition. She plays with a low center of gravity that helps her navigate tight spaces and maintain balance. While not the most explosive leaper, her quickness and craftiness allow her to create advantages.

NC State Fit: Her speed and quickness would immediately elevate NC State’s transition game and allow the Wolfpack to play at a faster tempo. She has the tools to pressure the ball full-court and generate turnovers in Wes Moore’s aggressive defensive schemes.

Offensive Game

Strengths:

  • Playmaking & Vision: Fantastic passer who constantly scans the floor and delivers accurate, timely kicks. High basketball IQ as a true floor general who elevates teammates.
  • Scoring Versatility & Shooting: Scores at all three levels with strong mid-range and three-point ability (projects as a mid-to-high 30% shooter from deep). Confident pulling up or spotting up; career scoring leader at Coeur d’Alene (1,521 points) after averaging 30.5 ppg as a junior.
  • Ball-Handling & Creation: Tight handle allows her to create for herself and others in half-court sets or pick-and-roll. Pushes the pace relentlessly without forcing action.
  • Efficiency & Production: Averaged 30.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 5.3 steals, and 4.7 assists while leading her team to a league title and state semis. Efficient against high-level competition.

NC State Fit: Colvin’s ability to push tempo, create in transition or half-court, and stretch the floor with shooting would complement NC State’s up-tempo offense. She projects as a player who can run the point while also contributing scoring punch—a valuable combo guard in the ACC.

Areas to Improve:

  • Finishing through contact against bigger, stronger college defenders.
  • Adding strength and physicality to better absorb contact at the next level (primary concern given her size).

Defensive Game

Colvin is a high-energy, disruptive defender who uses her quickness, anticipation, and competitive edge to generate steals and deflections (5.3 steals per game as a junior). She plays hard on the ball and shows leadership tendencies that translate to team defense.

NC State Fit: This is a major selling point. NC State prioritizes tough, physical, and switchable defenders. Colvin’s speed, motor, and instincts would allow her to pressure 1s (and some 2s) at a high level while contributing to the Wolfpack’s full-court and half-court pressure schemes.

Intangibles & Projection

Fearless competitor with a high motor, winning mentality, and natural leadership. 4.0 GPA student-athlete known for excellent character, work ethic, and faith-driven grounding. Community involvement includes volunteering with food banks and YMCA initiatives. Gatorade Idaho Player of the Year, two-time IEL POY, and MaxPreps state POY. Older sister Teagan provides a strong family basketball foundation.

NC State Projection:

  • Immediate Role (Freshman Year): High-energy backup or rotation point guard who can push the tempo, create, shoot, and provide defensive pressure off the bench or in specific lineups.
  • Developmental Ceiling: With continued strength gains and finishing development, she has the upside to become a starting ACC point guard who impacts games on both ends. Her vision, shooting, and IQ give her a high floor as a pace-setter and creator.

Style Comparison: A skilled, high-IQ creator with similarities to a young Jada Williams (current Iowa State PG) – excellent passer and shooter who leads with composure and competitiveness.

Overall NC State Outlook

Brookeslee Colvin is a strong and realistic fit for NC State. She checks multiple boxes the Wolfpack prioritize in the backcourt:

  • Elite playmaking, vision, and speed
  • Scoring and shooting versatility
  • Defensive energy and disruption
  • High motor, leadership, and competitive edge

With an existing NC State offer and her status as one of the top point guards in the 2027 class, she is a high-value target. Landing Colvin would add much-needed quickness, creation, and two-way guard play to the roster while giving the program a player with clear ACC starter potential.

Bottom Line: Skilled, quick, high-IQ point guard with elite playmaking, vision, and shooting who would thrive in NC State’s up-tempo, defense-first system. A priority-level target in the 2027 cycle who fits the Wolfpack’s identity perfectly.
