Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo didn’t hold back when she was asked about the hardest place to play on the road.

During a rapid-fire segment on the Post Moves podcast with Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston, Hidalgo quickly answered:

“NC State. Their gym is like a bowl.”

The hosts immediately agreed, calling it a “really good pick.”

In a separate interview with SB Nation (from October 2025), Hidalgo gave a more detailed version of the same thought:

“N.C. State. Last year was my first time playing there. It’s like a bowl and everybody is sitting on top of you. It just makes it feel so much smaller and it’s all red everywhere.”

Hidalgo’s comments perfectly describe what makes Reynolds Coliseum such a tough environment for visiting teams. The arena’s shape keeps the noise trapped inside, and the fans feel right on top of the action, creating a loud, intense, intimidating atmosphere.

Coming from one of the best players in the country, it’s a nice nod to NC State’s home-court advantage.

Of course, those who sit in Reynolds for each home game already are aware of this!
