The outlook for three-point shooting is slightly better for NC State in the 2026-27 season.
2025-26 Baseline
NC State shot 31.4% from three as a team (188 made out of 598 attempts). They were not a high-volume three-point team and relied more on inside scoring and mid-range play.
Key Changes Impacting 3PT Shooting
| Player | Status | 3PT Impact | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zam Jones | Lost | Negative | One of the team’s best shooters from deep; shot 36% and led the team with 68 made threes |
| Desiree Wooten | Added | Positive | Shot 35.2% from three while averaging 13.4 PPG. Creates her own shot and takes solid volume |
| Audrey Ericksen | Added | Slight Positive | Veteran guard who should add spacing and outside shooting |
| Zoe Brooks | Returning | Neutral | Primarily a driver and mid-range scorer (~23% from three in 2025-26) |
| Kamora Pruitt | Added | Positive (Long-term) | Highly touted wing who can shoot the three; expected to stretch the floor as she develops |
Outlook for 2026-27
Positive: Desiree Wooten is the biggest immediate upgrade. She’s a proven scorer who can create off the dribble and knock down threes at a respectable rate. Her addition should increase both the volume and consistency of three-point attempts. Veteran guard Audrey Ericksen will also help with spacing, while freshman Kamora Pruitt brings long-term upside as a wing who can shoot from beyond the arc.
Negative: Losing Zam Jones removes an efficient, high-volume three-point shooter. That production will not be fully replaced right away.
Overall Projection: NC State should be modestly better from three-point range in 2026-27. The addition of Desiree Wooten gives the Wolfpack a more reliable outside threat and creator. While the team may not see a dramatic jump immediately, they should attempt more threes and shoot them at a similar or slightly higher percentage than the 31.4% posted last season. Over time, Kamora Pruitt’s development as a three-point shooting wing should further improve the offense from deep.
Bottom line: Three-point shooting is one of the clearer areas of improvement for NC State next season, driven primarily by Desiree Wooten. It won’t be a complete transformation, but the offense from beyond the arc should be noticeably better than last year, with even more potential as Kamora Pruitt develops.
