Can we talk about how proud we are of River Baldwin right now? Our 6’5″ center from Andalusia, Alabama, who wore the Red and White and graduated in 2024, is absolutely killing it Down Under in her first pro season with the Mackay Meteorettes in Australia’s NBL1 North.
Through the first five games of the 2026 season, River is putting up 16.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.8 blocks per game in just 24.6 minutes. She’s shooting a strong 55.8% from the field while bringing that same rim-protecting, paint-dominating presence we loved watching at NC State.
She’s already dropped some serious highlights for the Meteorettes. In the season opener on April 18, she went for 19 points and 14 rebounds in a big win. On May 1 she added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and just this past weekend (May 9) she poured in 20 points in another victory. Double-double threats and efficient scoring? That’s the River we knew would thrive once she got her shot at the pro level.
At NC State, River stepped up big in her grad year, nearly doubling her scoring and rebounding numbers while starting every game and anchoring the frontcourt that went to the Final Four. She came to Raleigh as a transfer from Florida State and quickly became a fan favorite for her work ethic and low-post game.
Now she’s taking that same energy halfway around the world, and Mackay coaches are already calling her a “major addition” who brings leadership and interior presence as they chase finals contention.
Nothing beats seeing one of our own go overseas and immediately ball out like this. Keep cooking, River… the Pack is watching and cheering loud from back home. Go Meteorettes, and forever GoPack!
