RALEIGH, N.C. — Freshman guard Destiny “Ky’She” Lunan announced Saturday she is returning to the NC State Wolfpack women’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season, posting “season 2 loading” alongside Wolfpack imagery on social media.
The 5-10 point guard from Goodyear, Ariz., was a four-star recruit (No. 65 nationally per HoopGurlz) and Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year before arriving in Raleigh. In her first college season, Lunan carved out meaningful minutes in the backcourt for head coach Wes Moore’s squad, showing the speed, vision, and scoring instincts that made her one of the ACC’s most promising young guards.
Her decision comes at a pivotal moment for NC State’s perimeter rotation. Earlier this week, sophomore guard Zamareya “Zam” Jones, the team’s third-leading scorer and primary three-point threat in 2025-26, entered the transfer portal, joining center Mallory Collier in leaving the program. Jones’ departure leaves a significant void in scoring punch and veteran leadership from the guard spots heading into next season.
Lunan’s return provides immediate stability and upside. As a high-IQ floor general who can push tempo and create for teammates, she is positioned to step into a larger role and help anchor what had been an undetermined backcourt. Wolfpack fans took to social media quickly after her announcement, celebrating the news as a much-needed bright spot following the tournament exit and subsequent roster movement.
With NIL opportunities and the transfer portal continuing to reshape rosters across the ACC, Lunan’s loyalty to the Pack signals confidence in Moore’s vision for the program’s future. Season 2 is officially loading and the Wolfpack backcourt just got a whole lot more interesting.
